I have had the privilege of shooting covers for the East Beach Peninsula Life Magazine for more than a year and when I saw this amazing dog walking around the area with her equally as amazing owners, I had to know more.
Eleanor is an AKC Champion Irish Wolfhound who lives at the beach. As with any sighthound, she LOVES to run but we found this Celtic canine was just as much at ease in the studio as she was running full out on the beach.
Here she is in an amazing handmade Celtic collar that her owners (who are also of Irish descent), won at an Irish Wolfhound specialty show. Eleanor was a pup at the time but now at 170 pounds and two years of age, she fits it nicely.
A few images of her taking a run on the beach. Irish Wolfhounds (aslo known as Irish Wolfdogs or Cú) were originally bred to hunt and to assist in battle in the rugged and unforgiving terrain in Ireland.. They were considered dogs of royalty and could only be owned by Chiefs and Kings. As wolves became less of a problem, the breed almost died out.
As big as she is and as fearless as she was bred to be, she is a big love with her "parents" and all who meet her.
And a few more images of Eleanor...
And one more...
